The Flexible Missionaries

Dearest friends, family…World Changers!

We are living in the real times that were prophesied long ago. What a privilege to stand in faith as the Bride of Christ faces the current battle of faith for the health of our families and bodies. Faithful partners, thank you for standing with us to support our family as we make a change in direction to our original plans for birth and furlough(state-side assignment) for 2020.

Last month we received some wonderful news from my sister. She announced that she was engaged and the “now” new couple would have a short engagement and small/intimate wedding in the beginning of April. Our response? We were thrilled for her except we had to inform her with regret that we wouldn’t be able to come for multiple reasons. First, we didn’t have a wedding flight ticket calculated into our budget and second, ministry plans were firmly being put in place to prepare for our departure in late May to Livingstone, Zambia. We would attend Overlands conference beginning of June followed by heading south to Johannesburg, South Africa for the delivery of our baby girl. My sister was bummed of the thought that her little sister wouldn’t be able to witness that wonderful day with her and insisted to fly me into Jacksonville for just two weeks for the festivities. After discussing it with my husband Andrey and our team here agreed that it would work and we could proceed to follow through with further plans.

Shortly after, we found a good flight and booked for March 24th-April 9th. Everything was lining up nicely besides one thing…corona virus began to hit Europe and the U.S. hard. A few days ago we received a notification that South Africa and Zambia have closed their borders to the affected areas of the world and wouldn’t let further visitors come through, Africa was being hit the least of all and wanted to stop the spread of corona immediately. That meant that although I could proceed to come to America, I would risk not being able to fly back home to my family. That wasn’t a risk I was willing to take and we decided together with Andrey that we would cancel my trip, this raised many questions for our delivery plans as well.

For those who are aware, I’ve shared of our birth plans once before but will briefly give an overview to those who haven’t. We planned to head down to South Africa beginning of June to meet my mid wife for the first time and continue my prenatal care there following with giving birth in a birthing center called Genesis that provides exceptional care for mother and baby. It’s located in Johannesburg(due date is approximately mid July). After my recovery and retrieving all documents for our baby, we would then fly back to the states from there on. Recently, our insurance informed us that our birth would not be covered and that we would have to pay out of pocket for all care. What a bummer:/ Although that was disappointing, we knew that our God is faithful and would provide as He’s done with hundreds of other things that have come up and keep coming up nearly every month. The game changer for our plans came just this past Monday when SA announced border closings. We began brainstorming on different options and came to one that is fairly good but is -as always “SUBJECT TO CHANGE”.

(We are sharing our new “Subject to Change” plan so that all of our friends, family and partners are all up to date and can plan accordingly if we send you a message that we are in your area(state-side) and would like to grab a cup of coffee with you.)

We plan to keep all of our ministry commitments as planned up to the end of May and head to the Overland Conference in Livingstone, Zambia to recruit new members to our Eastern Province team from the Overlands May AMT class. After the conference, we would then leave our Cruiser in the OM base and fly out to Jacksonville with our whole family. Plan of birth is still up in the air for which hospital/birth center will accept me as I would be 32 weeks pregnant at the time of arrival. We ask that you please pray for just favor and divine connections so that we can have a easy delivery with no stress involved. For those who are curious, I have been seeing an OBG/YN here in Chipata and have all necessary blood tests done and come for regular check ups for basic monitoring, we thank the Lord everyday that my pregnancy has been low-risk thus far and baby girl is cooking healthy and strong in the oven:)

In regards to my sisters wedding, they have postponed it till possibly June, so we might very well still make it to her wedding, except this time we can all be present!!

Ministry is quite exciting as always but specifically this weekend, Rachel and Sekelani as well as Tessa, myself, Andrey and our amazing ministry partners will be traveling to Petauki to hold a Queens conference/revival meeting for two days. That’s around 18-20 queens from different tribes that are gathering under one roof to be encourage, worship our Lord and hear the Word of God. These women are high in ranking and hold a strong influence over their chiefdoms. We are anticipating the power of the Holy Spirit to touch many lives and for them to carry the fire into their areas of influence! Join with us in prayer as we pray that their hearts may be prepared to hear, receive, and apply.

Andrey and I plan to drive up to Lusaka(capital of Zambia) Sunday to stock up on some needed supplies for the house without the kiddos. I think that’s the first time ever that we would go without them! Tessa and our friend Sharon will be staying with the children so that we have more room to transport supplies and just to make the trip quick and “easier”. Praying that Moses doesn’t have a meltdown while we are gone, he is very attached to his mommy and daddy.

Well that’s a wrap for the rest of our month in March! Much more to share on the next newsletter in April with updates of all the great things happening in EP of Zambia!
