Jesus walked along the shore of the Sea of Galilee, and saw Peter and Andrew casting their net into the sea. He called out to them and said, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” IMMEDIATELY or SUDDENLY they left their nets and followed Him. -Matt. 4:16-20
Ever thought about the cost of following Christ?
Dearest and beloved Family, Friends and Ministry Partners, from all of us in the Gorlachev Family we want to express our utter most gratitude for standing with us during this global pandemic that’s affecting the world today. I think we can all testify on what the Lord has been teaching us through this time. My prayer is that you experience the deepest peace in your Spirit and soul amongst the storm. I like to imagine Jesus and the constant storm that raged around Him, yet He managed to go and pray/spend time with His Father. He remained in a state of complete and utter peace.
Today, Zambia has enforced certain laws for eliminating covid-19 from spreading and some of those things required us to put a pause on village ministry(I believe I mentioned that in our last update) but still gives us the freedom to meet with our Overland Team here in EP as well as minister to our disciples/workers weekly basis. As of recent reports, there’s been 2 deaths recorded and no new cases emerging(let’s face it though, stats here aren’t super accurate due to lack of testing abilities) also they have began implementing face masks in public places, but despite that, we are grateful to be able to have the freedom to move around a bit rather than be quarantined strictly to our homes as some of the other OM missionaries around the world.
As of right now, our plans to come to the states June 4th are still a go. As long as the borders open to Johannesburg and Delta is able to get on that flight strip :). We are very excited about the possibility of giving birth to our baby girl in the states (I’ve mentioned before that it wasn’t part of our original plan). Due to a issues we encountered with our insurance and border closures, that is the newest and best option for our family. The idea of our families getting a chance to meet our little joy bundle from the start is so precious to my mama heart (not to mention the simplicity of acquiring proper paper work for her in a timely manner would be a relief). Great news is when the Lord calls, He also equips us for everything that’s required and needed in the moment.
This month our son Isaac contracted a heavy strand of malaria that led us into a state of alertness like never before. For those who don’t know much about malaria, it’s a parasite that multiplies very quickly in your liver that if it’s not treated immediately, in a matter of days it could shut down all of your organs. We noticed that Isaac began declining very quickly which can get pretty scary if you don’t know what to do, thankfully we have a good doctor friend here in Chipata who practices in the field of tropical diseases and he was able to identify and quickly administer proper medicine to him for the next 4 days. Thank you to all of you who prayed with us and stood in faith as we believed for a full recovery to his body. He is doing wonderfully today and we are so grateful to the Lord for mighty men and women who pray!
I can’t begin to express the excitement we hear from our children on a daily basis about flying to the states (this is their first term on the missions field)! Andrey and I get a good laugh as their faces light up and let out sharp-high pitched squeals of joy. Lol. We are just so proud of them. We are proud of their positive attitudes, joyful spirits, and the way that they encourage one another when the other is having a hard day. Sometimes they lay in bed at night (when they should be already asleep) and talk about their dreams, sweet memories they’ve made the day before and silly things that kids get excited about. It’s a gift. Our Children bless us so much and we are so grateful to the Lord for them. I hope you take the time to love on yours a bit extra tonight as you tuck them into bed. 🙂
There is something so precious about the Lord that has been replaying in my heart lately. Im passionate about it, because when the Holy Spirit revealed it to me 6 years ago, it changed the course for rest life..I want to share a bit with you if you don’t mind. Wherever we are in this world, we exist because God-our Father has spoken us into existence. Callings are sometimes are spelled out from childhood and for some, you’ve questioned whether a calling is just a “christian-ese” term that we use. A calling is simply this: a strong urge towards a particular way or direction. God asks for our yes when we receive Jesus as our Lord and savior but the call is given to you as an infant. When you were knitted in your mothers womb, He placed a calling/desire/urge to be like Him. As we know, God is so vast and so deep. When we are IN Christ, we are a NEW creation, therefore we receive a new identity but the calling still remains because you were created from Him and He never creates anything by mistake. I guess their must be a someone out there that’s questioned and hasn’t received an answer. Well this post is written specifically for you. The Lord wants the body of Christ to step out and now is the time to do so. Quick little exercise: I want you to take out a sheet of paper and write out 5 things that you have always enjoyed doing. Now look at your list and ask the Holy Spirit to show you what those things have in common and He will tie them together for you. As you hear from Him, write things down. What you’ll find will make you more aware that you’ve known what your calling has been all along! Friends, God speaks to us as simply as this exercise. We just need to be inclined to hear.
Hearing Gods voice is so key in moving with the will of God…we as the chosen people who hear His voice and are about the Fathers business are called into a deep fellowship with Him. That’s the communion that Jesus had with His Father when He walked the earth. If you don’t walk in that fellowship now, asses your life and priorities.
With that said, I want to encourage all of you to follow Christ into a season of whether it’s trusting Him in finances, believing Him for complete healing to manifest in your body, or seeing things come to pass that you have been asking the Lord for. Sometimes the Lord will ask your for everything, but don’t be afraid…He’s not asking you to be miserable and suffer, but rather when you give Him all things and lay them on the altar, that shows your devotion and love for Him (with no strings attached). It’s a love game you see? We don’t love to receive, we give because we love. That’s my encouragement for you today. Love your neighbor, and Love the Lord. In doing these things, you will be blessed!:)
