There’s a question that the Lord asked me this weekend that got me very still, as I drove back to our hosts home after the hospital,,, “Am I enough?”.
The past week has been full of unexpected surprises-good…and not so good. These last few days have reminded me that even if my life were to dramatically change in an instant, I would be left with two options: to glorify my God, or to complain and question Gods goodness.
It all started on Thanksgiving when Andrey began to feel strange and felt uncomfortably full. It followed with extreme tiredness, ringing in the ears, and pale skin. Our close friends and family began mentioning how they noticed his skin change before but this time it was more noticeable. Several days later we decided that Andrey would go for a check up and do some blood work in order to see whether there were any signs for concern. We were debating whether we should go along with our plans to visit fam/friends & ministry supporters in the Carolina’s and finally decided to go ahead and go despite the way Andrey felt because he felt “fine”. One exception was that he had to do his blood work before we flew out, and so he did.
We had a safe flight into Greenville, SC and were just about to sit down with family for dinner the following evening when we got an alarming phone call from the doctor saying that the blood results came back and his hemoglobin was at a dangerously low 5.9! He followed by saying that we needed to take him to the nearest hospital for a blood transfusion. All of a sudden, my appetite was gone and all I could think about was: what’s happening to his body and how come his hemoglobin was so low? Many unhealthy thoughts began to once again bombard my mind, but Andrey reassured me that everything was going to be fine.
The following morning I drove Andrey to the ER. He was immediately admitted after a few tests and they followed on by to running additional tests/scans that I can hardly pronounce. I continued to hear the Lord saying “I’m with you…I’ll never leave or forsake you…I’m here even now”. The Lord knew that my heart was troubled and that the enemy’s voice was reminding me of all the loved ones I’ve recently lost. The unknown is so hard to process. It feels like the hours stretch out into days. But, I know that my God is always faithful because I don’t just know about HIM, but I know Him! So I responded to the Lord with tears flowing down my face, “you are enough God, you are enough for me even if all else fails…”
Maybe your going through something similar and you feel like your all alone. Friend, the Lord says “Don’t be afraid…Im with you”. When the world throws fear and uncertainty your way, He calls us to not be afraid! Jesus is calling us[the believers/sold out lovers/the bride]to walk in our identity as sons and daughters of the most high God. If our foundation isn’t built on Jesus Christ- The Rock, then we are in for a hard road ahead. All things that are built on anything besides Jesus WILL crumble…
Andrey is currently doing very well- Praise The Lord! We are currently working on restoring his temple back to health so that it can take him across the world to preach the gospel:) Thank you to all of you who prayed for His healing, God is so faithful. We leave for Africa in less than a month!
A quick update on our plans, we are spending this sweet time of the year with our awesome families, and at the same time meeting with our partners and fundraising for a few items that need to be purchased in Africa such as: Solar Equipment, Dirt bike riding gear, Dirt Bike, Dryer, and a few large car parts for our vehicle such as a bull bar and wench.
