Stories are what I’m good at sharing, but I’ve always struggled rounding up my story with a conclusion that did the story justice. I thought that the title of this post was pretty accurate of the picture I’m attempting to paint for all of you. Phil Smethurst once said to us missionaries- “If you think that you have too much on your plate, then you need to get a bigger plate”. An entirely different approach to what I’ve always been accustomed to taking. I always thought that if you have too much on your plate, you need to unload what’s on your plate in order for you load to become lighter.
Hold on, if Jesus specifically said in Matthew 11 that His yoke is easy and His burden is light, then isn’t this word contradicting it? Well, let’s process this through.
Google defines yoke as a wooden crosspiece that is fastened over the necks of two animals and attached to the plow or cart that they are to pull. Burden defined as a load that is typically a heavy one.
Neither of those defines what Jesus is saying in these verses. What I understand that Christ is saying here is that we aren’t slaves to the yoke anymore, but are joined together with Christ Himself- the burden that is light is the gospel of Jesus Christ that is easy to carry, no matter the obstacles that we are faced with along the way.
God never promised us an easy life without obstacles and difficulties, but He did promise to be with us every step of the way. To never leave or forsake us, to fight for us when we can’t fight any longer because the battle belongs to Him. We are His beloved and He is ours. Friends…don’t you know that God has never failed? Why would He start now?
Apostle Paul pleads God in 2 Corinthians chapter 12 concerning the “thorn” in his flesh. Let’s read it together.
Starting with verse 8 “Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. Each time he said. “My grace is all you need . My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
Beautiful yes?
Friends, let me help round this up as best as I can.
God NEVER breaks His promises. He is ALWAYS faithful. And in His PERFECTION, will He bring you through any storm, any plague, any “rona”, any presidential election. HE IS THE ALPHA-THE OMEGA…
Do not fear-Only BELIEVE that He will bring it to completion. Our job as faithful stewards, is to carry His burden till ALL hear the wonderful gospel of Jesus Christ.
Love you my dear friends- till next time,
